Years ago, a close friend, the godmother of my youngest daughter, presented me with the Inventory of Charisms by the Catherine of Siena Institute. It was a great opportunity to reflect and think about what God wanted of me based on the Charisms the Holy Spirit had manifested through me in my life. But, in reflecting on where the Lord has led me now, as a wife, mother, and co-founder of Making Music Praying Twice, I find that the inventory brings me to my knees. I need God to fill me with His power with charisms that make up for my failings so I can serve Him better.
So, here are my very personal prayer resolutions:
This year…..
I will welcome a new baby to our family, so I must pray for the charism of Hospitality.
I will teach music to families, and children, and teach teachers how to teach, so I must pray for the charism of Teaching.
I will help my husband in his ministry in Making Music Praying Twice, music ministry, and as a husband and father, so I must pray for the charism of Helping.
I will need to take risks to do what is best for Making Music Praying Twice with no guarantee that there will be enough income to pay the mortgage, so I must pray for the charism of Faith.
I will give presentations to groups of different sizes on various topics involving ministry, music and education, so I must pray for the charism of Leadership.
I will need to keep my business and home organized until I can afford a secretary! I must pray for the charism of Administration.
I will need to deal with morning sickness, discomfort, and financial hardships, while keeping on top of our commitments. I must pray for the charism of Long-Suffering.
I will be sharing the power of music and prayer in all the presentations, classes and workshops I give, so I must pray for the charism of Music.
I approach the New Year, and thank God, I will not do it alone.
