Summer Teacher Training Workshop – July 31 to August 1, 2010
The Making Music Praying Twice workshop is a one and a half day training session in a faithful atmosphere. Demonstration classes, hands-on practice, educational theory, and observational techniques are all employed. Training materials are included in the package. Candidates will be assessed on practical teaching ability, mastery of music skills, and understanding of the program philosophy and pedagogy. Passing this workshop qualifies a candidate as a Certified Making Music Praying Twice Teacher. Potential candidates need not be contracted to teach MMPT in order to participate.
Workshop Schedule
- Manual will be sent in advance of the workshop with directions for necessary preparation for class.
- Session I (Saturday AM) – Theory 9:00 – 11:30 AM

3. Brain Growth and Music Education
4. Curriculum Derived from Research
- Demonstration Class 11:40AM
- Lunch Break (restaurants in walking distance) 12:40 – 2:00 PM
- Session II (Saturday PM) – Practice 2:00 – 4:30

3. Making Observations
- Confession available (4:00 PM)(5:00 PM Vigil Mass Available)
- Sunday Mass (9:00 AM) and Working Brunch (provided)
- Session III (Sunday) – Curriculum12:00 – 5:00 PM
1. Exploring the MMPT Summer Camp Curriculum
2. Workshopping – practical with feedback
3. Assessment (All candidates must pass this assessment to be Certified in MMPT)
Details and Important Information
- Hosted by St. James Parish, Basking Ridge, NJ.
- Registration spots will not be guaranteed until payment is received online or by regular mail.
- Hotel accommodations are not provided. Several hotels are available within a 10 mile radius, with 2 local hotels.
- With the exception of Sunday lunch, meals are not provided. Local restaurants in walking distance.
- Sacrament of Reconciliation available after the Saturday session.
- Approximately 20 minute drive from Newark International Airport. Rental transportation will be necessary.
- Local train and bus service to nearby New York City.
- Workshop fee is $210 and includes all training materials, certification, and workshop classes.
- A 10% discount applies if a parish or organization is sending more than one candidate to a particular workshop.
- Candidates must be 18 years or older at the time of the workshop.
