Why Aren't there any training sessions near me?
Hosting a Making Music Praying Twice Training Weekend
At this time, we only offer the live MMPT Teacher Training workshops in Basking Ridge, NJ at our HUB parish. The correspondence training is only available to teachers currently certified in Music Together, Kindermusik or Musikgarten. We would love to bring our live Teacher Training classes to other parts of the country. With your help, we can have a weekend training program in your area! Here's how:
- The point person receives 1 FREE tuition including materials! The point person handles all logistics for the training session: location and schedule, recruiting attendees, collecting fees, coordinating AV equipment, bringing in volunteers for a live sample class, etc.
- At least five (5) full tuition candidates must attend to move forward with the training. Candidates may or may not be planning to institute a Making Music Praying Twice program.
- A parish or institution with suitable space must host the event.
- There is a limit of 30 attendees for each training workshop.
- A deposit of $500 should be made in advance of the event. Expended travel costs such as purchased air-line tickets will be deducted from any refund in the event of cancellation.
- Printable templates for fliers will be provided along with online advertising on our site for your area's event.
I want to try to get a training session here.
Where do I find other interested candidates?
- Check with other parishes in your dioceses or in neighboring dioceses. We are always happy to provide any interested parish with our Parish Information Kit.
- Contact local Catholic colleges and institutions to see if they would post this offering in their Music Education department.
- Contact your Diocesan Superintendent of Schools. MMPT Workshops are used by dioceses in our area for continuing education and teacher in-service days. We can submit paperwork for their review and the diocese may approve the workshop for teacher in-service credits. Both elementary music teachers and preschool teachers benefit from this training.
- Contact your diocesan newpaper to place your event in the calendar or events section of the paper.
Who will host the event? Do I need to rent a space?
Making Music Praying Twice is about more than a chance to make some money. It is about more than music education. It is about growing Catholic communities, supporting Catholic families, and helping to pass down the faith to our children by running education programs that continually honor their Catholic identity. In these purposes, we have many partners. Usually, a Catholic parish, school, diocesan center or college will be happy to host this event. If you have a small group, a large space in not needed. Simply explain what you are hoping to accomplish – helping local parishes bring this new ministry/educational program to their parishioners. Explain that these training sessions and MMPT parish run classes are much more affordable than the secular counterparts because of the patronage of Catholic institutions. Finally, pray to the Holy Spirit to direct you in your efforts and to meet the needs for the training session.
I want to be the point person. What do I do first?
